Where to fly from KART
KART sits in Dexter, just west of Watertown, close to the eastern end of Lake Ontario. From here it is a short flight to the Thousand Islands and the St. Lawrence River, the Tug Hill Plateau, and the Adirondack foothills. It is a great base for $100-hamburger runs, sightseeing with passengers, and cross-country trips across Jefferson County and the wider North Country.
Need a flight review first?
If it has been a while, we offer flight reviews and can combine one with your checkout. Our instructors can also help you get back up to speed before flying passengers, or add training toward an instrument rating.
Before your first rental
Bring your pilot certificate, current medical (or BasicMed documentation) and logbook to your checkout so your instructor can see your recent experience. Expect to review the airplane systems, normal and emergency procedures, and local procedures at KART. If you are new to the area, ask your instructor about the airspace around Fort Drum and the best routes along the lake and the St. Lawrence. Your instructor will sign you off once you are comfortable, and there is no pressure to rush it.
Saving on rental time
Block hours and cash discounts are available: there is a 10% discount for cash purchases over $1,000. Ask us about a block that fits how often you fly.
